Forced Price Increases Incoming

Just so you Readers know, prices are about to go up for a lot of Indie authors' printed works, and it's not those authors being greedy. It's the stores you shop at being greedy.

For any author publishing through IngramSpark, one of the biggest print & distribution platforms in the world, there is a new mandate to increase each book's Wholesale Discount from 30% minimum, to 40% minimum. This price change hurts you, the Reader, and only helps the stores selling these books print-on-demand. Specifically, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the like. This change does not help the author at all, and in many cases costs the author money to comply with these changes.

Yes, alot of authors publish exclusively through Amazon KDP. Some are exclusive to Barnes & Noble Press. A small percent publish through Draft2Digital Print, or Lulu, etc. All of these have their own limitations, but the most glaring of which is that many of these print-on-demand services actually print through IngramSpark behind the scenes. Those that don't, usually cost way more per copy sold, and have far more quality issues.

Of the IngramSpark authors out there, at least 30% of them had books published at 30% - 35% wholesale discount, and that means approximately 1/3 of all Ingram authors now have to jack up their prices. I also expect many of the re-sale printers out there to increase their costs to match.

Here's what wholesale discount does to a book's price if the Author tries to keep their royalty rate at $2.84 per copy for a book with $10.45 print cost. This is informative, but should also irritate you a bit, as Readers. It is something you should know, either way.

As a result of these pricing changes in the industry, all of R.L. Parker's books published through Ayrelon Press LLC will be receiving a price increase, as mandated by IngramSpark.

Siscci is increasing from $8.99 to $11.99

Dusk paperback is increasing from $12.99 to $16.99

Dusk hardcover is increasing from $18.99 to $22.99

Bathed in the Blood of Ravens paperback is increasing from $18.99 to $22.99

Bathed in the Blood of Ravens hardcover is increasing from $26.99 to $30.99

We apologize for the impact these changes are having on your wallet, as a Reader, but wanted to inform you why it's happening, and stay transparent in our decisions. These price changes were mandated by our printing host, IngramSpark, and are out of our control.
